This is what the English speaking world calls a Schooner. Its bow is the same as a Clipper’s and its masts are located at the rear of the vessel as is normally the case in American Schooner. Its sides are high and its hull is about the same size as a Baltic Trader’s. Its hull is made up of three- inch- thick oak planks (7.62 cm), which are reinforced by a very sturdy skeleton of frames and floor plates welded together by forged iron.
Its powerful tonnage (87t) is deftly driven both by wind and by a 350 horsepower Caterpillar engine. The Delphin’s fore and aft sails are divided into as many as 8 sails. Its 350 sq. m. of breathtaking exposure to the winds is regulated only by blocks and traditional belaying pins.
The interior is made up of eight spacious cabins fitted out in mahogany paneling ( 4 double rooms, two doubles with bunk beds, a double aft cabin and a bow cabin for the crew) each one of which is en suite. Everything has been carefully designed to make a pleasant sailing experience become a memory to cherish forever. |
